Summary of Terms

Skill level

All occupations that are included in the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO) are given a ‘skill level’, from skill level one (highest) to skill level five (lowest).

The skill level provides an indication of the qualifications or work experience required to competently perform the set of tasks required for the occupation.

An occupation’s skill level is used in the Skilled Migrant Category as a basis for assessing skilled employment.
